WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY TIMELINE
With every wedding being different and special on their own, there is no exact template for every wedding but we have listed some of the common wedding photography timelines below. While planning your wedding day, this timeline would give you an idea on what to expect throughout the day.
RINGS, DRESS, SHOES, AND OTHER DETAILS
RECOMMENDED TIME ALLOTMENT - 30 mins
RECOMMENDED TIME - Morning (Before the Bride Gets Ready)
RECOMMENDED LOCATION - Bridal Suite or Hotel Room
We recommend that you have your bridal dress, rings, shoes etc ready and to be with us for at least 30 mins to help us get beautiful shots of them. Sometimes it would take longer if your bridal suite is too crowded or does not fit the requirements and we might have to find a different spot to capture the shots.
PREPARATION
RECOMMENDED TIME ALLOTMENT - 60 mins
RECOMMENDED TIME - During The Time Bride and Groom are Getting Ready
RECOMMENDED LOCATION - Bridal Suite and Groom’s Room
This is the time we get up close and personal and capture the moments of the bride and groom getting ready. We will shoot the hair and make up being applied, groom and groomsmen getting ready etc. We will be shooting a lot of candid and fun moments so we recommend you have enough time so we don’t miss those moments. Usually, the lead photographer will be with the bride and the second photographer with the groom.
INDIVIDUAL PORTRAITS
RECOMMENDED TIME ALLOTMENT - 30 mins
RECOMMENDED TIME - After Prep
RECOMMENDED LOCATION - Hotel Suite, Lobby, Garden, etc
We will take some individual portraits right after the preparation. This is the best time to do is as you have just got ready. We will scout some ideal locations to shoot these portraits in advance.
FIRST LOOK AND COUPLE’S SESSION
RECOMMENDED TIME ALLOTMENT - 45-60 mins
RECOMMENDED TIME - Early Afternoon
RECOMMENDED LOCATION - Venue, Off-Site Location etc.
This is the time the bride and groom look at each other the first time. Not everyone does first look but if you do, make sure you have allotted enough time for photos of you together, even though the first look doesn’t take much time, we will utilize the rest for some personal and beautiful portraits of you both.
WEDDING PARTY PHOTOS
RECOMMENDED TIME ALLOTMENT - 30 mins
RECOMMENDED TIME - Afternoon
RECOMMENDED LOCATION - Venue, Off-Site Location
We will take photos of the couple with the wedding party right after the couple’s session. We will take formals, fun photos and we realize that your wedding party is special to you and if time permits, we will also take individual photos of each member of the wedding party with each of the couple.
CEREMONY DETAIL AND VENUE
RECOMMENDED TIME ALLOTMENT - 30 mins
RECOMMENDED TIME - Morning or Afternoon
RECOMMENDED LOCATION - Ceremony Location
This is the time we will take shots of the ceremony details and the venue. We would ideally prefer the complete setup to be ready and without any guests or vendors so we can capture some beautiful shots of your venue.
IMMEDIATE FAMILY AND EXTENDED FAMILY FORMALS
RECOMMENDED TIME ALLOTMENT - 45-60 mins
RECOMMENDED TIME - Post Ceremony
RECOMMENDED LOCATION - Ceremony Location
We will first take the photos of you and your immediate families with different combinations. We ideally prefer you provide us a list in advance so we don’t miss out anything. After that, we will take your photos with your extended family. Depending on the time available, we advise you to limit the number of individual photos with extended family members and instead have as many group photos as possible.
RECEPTION DETAIL, ENTRY AND POST-RECEPTION DANCE ETC
RECOMMENDED TIME ALLOTMENT - 60 Mins and More
RECOMMENDED TIME - After Ceremony
RECOMMENDED LOCATION - Ceremony Location
This is the time we start taking detail shots of the reception venue before the guests come in. If possible, we would also prefer to take some couple shots during this time at dusk for beautiful couple portraits. After the reception, once all the guests have departed, we sometimes prefer to empty out the reception venue of everyone including the vendors and have them dance to a couple of their favorite songs, all alone. (Of course, along with us photographers).
